Indifference can lead to adverse outcomes for patients and ophthalmologists. Your support contributes towards making a positive change. For example, CAEPS played an important role in protecting patients by working to ensure surgery continues to be performed by well-trained surgeons.

CAEPS led the fight that resulted in Governor Newsom’s veto of Assembly Bill 2236 (AB 2236) Optometry: certification to perform advanced procedures (2021-2022), which would have allowed inadequately trained practitioners to perform eye surgery. This victory happened because CAEPS members stood together. One vote made the difference—and your support made that victory possible.
