Why Join?

Every challenge to your practice, every threat to patient safety, and every barrier to excellent eye care doesn’t wait for a convenient time. When scope-of-practice battles emerge, when legislation threatens your profession, and when patients need advocates, CAEPS is already in the fight. Your support doesn’t just matter—it’s essential.

By becoming a member, you’ll be part of a statewide organization that delivers real results. You’ll join a vital network of ophthalmologists, residents, and fellows and gain a better understanding of why advocacy is a crucial part of your practice.

Legislative Victory & Protection

CAEPS offers proven advocacy that protects patients and your profession. For example, the organization successfully defeated Assembly Bill 2236 (AB 2236) Optometry: certification to perform advanced procedures (2021-2022), a bill that would have allowed inadequately trained practitioners to perform complex eye surgeries.

Business Education & Professional Growth

You’ll have access to practice management training that medical school doesn’t teach and continuing education programs tailored to California ophthalmologists.

Network & Professional Standing

ou’ll be part of a statewide network of ophthalmologists with mentorship opportunities. Your membership also provides professional credibility that shows patients you care about quality care.

CAEPS Young Ophthalmologists (CAEPS YO)

The future of California ophthalmology starts with our emerging leaders. CAEPS YO connects residents, fellows, and early-career ophthalmologists through networking events, mentorship programs, and leadership development opportunities. Join a community of passionate professionals dedicated to advancing the field and protecting patient care.

The question is whether you can afford not to.

Vision is precious to all of us. California’s ophthalmologists are dedicated to providing the best possible care for this most valuable sense. We live in an era when most potentially blinding eye diseases can be controlled with proper diagnosis and treatment—but only when patients have access to properly trained specialists.

CAEPS is dedicated to bringing these benefits to every citizen of California.

Your patients are counting on you. Your profession needs you. California’s vision depends on us.
